# Sell gift cards on your own website, without sending your visitor away

 Until now your gift card lived on your ticket shop. With one line of code the purchase sits on your own site: choose an amount, write a message, pay, and return to the page where your visitor started.

- With the attribute data-mijnevent-giftcard the purchase of your gift card sits on your own website, in your own branding.
- It is the same purchase page as on your ticket shop: amount, personal message, recipient and payment.
- Payment opens in the main window. After paying, the thank-you page links back to the page on your site where the buyer started.
- The code is under Integrations as soon as gift cards are switched on in your settings. It costs nothing extra.

# Short answer

You can now put the sale of your gift card on your own website. You paste two lines of code on a page; your visitor chooses an amount there, writes a message and pays. After paying they return to your page.

```html
```

# Why on your own site

A gift card is rarely a planned purchase. Someone is looking for a present, lands on your website and thinks: that is nice. That is the moment. If they first have to click through to another site, you lose part of those people.

Until now the gift card only lived on your ticket shop, at an address like `yourstudio.mijnevent.nl/cadeaukaart`. You could link to it, nothing more. For tickets, courses and your web shop you could already put a widget on your own site. For the gift card you now can too.

# What it looks like

The widget is the same purchase page as on your ticket shop, without header and footer, in your branding. It grows with the content, so you do not get a scroll bar in a little frame.

![An example website of a studio with the gift card widget in it: choosing an amount, the recipient, a personal message and the order button](https://regify-mijnevent.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/blog/inline/cadeaukaart-widget-eigen-site.webp)

The buyer:

1. chooses an amount or types one;
2. writes a personal message and fills in who the card is for;
3. pays with iDEAL | Wero or another payment method;
4. receives the card by email, and returns to your site through the thank-you page.

Payment opens in the main window, not in the frame: that way it works with every bank without trouble.

# Where to find the code

In your dashboard under **Integrations**. Choose **Gift card** under "What do you want to show?" and copy the code. If the option is not there, switch on gift cards in your settings first.

Does someone else manage your website? Then you send the code with instructions straight to your web builder from the same page.

# Good to know

- **If you switch gift cards off for a while**, the widget shows a tidy message instead of an error page. You do not have to remove the code from your site.
- **The terms and the right of withdrawal** are in the widget, just like on your ticket shop. The buyer agrees to them when ordering.

   Frequently asked questions

## Frequently asked questions

## Do I have to install anything?

  No. You paste two lines into an HTML block of your website: a div and the script. That works in any website system where you can place your own HTML.

## Does the widget look like my website?

  It takes over the branding you set in MijnEvent: colours, font and button style. The height adjusts to the content.

## Where does the buyer end up after paying?

  On the thank-you page, with the code of the card and a button back to the page on your site where the widget is. The card itself arrives by email.

## Can the buyer tie the card to one event?

  Yes, if you offer that. The widget shows the same choices as the page on your ticket shop.

## What does it cost?

  Nothing extra. MijnEvent charges no fee on the purchase of a gift card; only when it is redeemed does the regular fee per ticket apply.

## A photo on the membership card: see at the entrance whose card it is

A season ticket or subscription is personal, but a QR code is forwarded in seconds. With a photo on the card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, and on the inspector's screen, you see at a glance whether the card belongs to the person showing it.

## Private events cost € 50 per event from 5 November. Free tickets for public events stay free

An event with only free tickets behind an access code costs € 50 per event from 5 November 2026, with unlimited registrations. Nothing changes for public events: a free ticket stays free.

## Selling tickets by payment request or with a ticketing system? An honest sum

Sending round a payment request is the cheapest way to collect money for tickets, and we'll say so. What you give up only shows at the door and in the treasurer's books.
