# Private ticket sales — an event that can only be ordered with an access code

 Private sales

# Sell tickets to the people you invite, and to no one else

Not every sale is for everyone. The staff party, the seats for sponsors, the group bookings of a travel company: you want to handle them online, but not among your regular events. With an access code on the event it cannot be found, and only people who got the code from you can order.

 [How it works](#how-title) [All features](https://mijnevent.nl/en/features)

- 1Put a code on the event

One field on the event form. At least four characters; the rest is up to you.
- 2Share the link and the code

By email, in an invitation or through your contact at the group. You decide who gets it.
- 3The guest orders for themselves

Enter the code, pick tickets, pay. Like any other order, with the same tickets by email.

  How it works

## From open event to private sale in three steps

You do not need a separate environment or a second account. It is an ordinary event with one extra field.

  1

### Enter an access code

Open the event in your dashboard and enter a code under Access code, for example TEAM2027. From that moment the event is restricted. Leave the field empty and it is an ordinary public event again.

   2

### Send the link and the code to your guests

MijnEvent does not send the code for you. You share the address of the event page and the code yourself, in whatever way suits the group. That way you know exactly who has it.

   3

### The visitor enters the code and orders

The event page shows only the name of the event and a field for the code. If the code is right, the tickets appear and the order runs as usual. Upper or lower case does not matter.

## What the guest sees, and what you set up

Two screens. That is all there is to it.

![The event page of a restricted staff party: only the name of the event, a field for the access code and the button to continue to the tickets](https://regify-mijnevent.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/blog/inline/toegangscode-formulier.webp) Without the code a visitor sees only the name of the event and this form. No description, no prices, no ticket types. ![The access code field on the event form in the dashboard, filled in with TEAM2027 and with the explanation below it](https://regify-mijnevent.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com/blog/inline/beheer-toegangscode.webp) The field on the event form. Entering a new code makes the old one invalid right away.

   What happens

## Four things a code does to your event

You set only one thing. The rest follows from it.

      ### The event disappears from your ticket shop

It is no longer on your home page, not in an event group and not in the list of events a gift card is valid for. Someone visiting your shop will not come across it.

      ### Search engines do not see it

The page is not in your sitemap and asks search engines not to include it. Without the code the page does not reveal a description or prices either.

      ### No code, no tickets and no order

The check is not only on the screen but also on the server: the ticket types, the seat map and the checkout only work after the right code. A shared link without the code gets you nothing.

      ### Your own team simply sees it

Anyone logged in as a team member of your organisation sees the event without a code. In your dashboard, your statistics and the scan app it is an event like any other.

   What you use it for

## Four kinds of sales that do not belong in your shop window

Always the same pattern: a known group, its own offer, and no one else who needs to be there.

      ### The staff party or the client day

Employees register themselves and their partner, for free or for a contribution of their own. You have a list and a QR code at the door, and the party is not among your public events.

      ### Groups and travel companies

A coach company or a club orders for the whole group at once, at the rate you agreed on. Private visitors do not see that rate.

      ### Seats for sponsors and partners

Every sponsor gets the link and the code and orders their own tickets. No more emailing lists of names back and forth.

      ### The presale for your inner circle

Give members or donors a week's head start. Then remove the code and the event is open to everyone, with the same tickets and the same page.

   Good to know

## Three things you would rather know now

So you do not find out during the sale.

## It is one code per event

Everyone you invite uses the same code. There are no personal codes. If you want to take away someone's access, you change the code and share the new one with the rest.

## A code is not a discount

The access code decides who may see the event. If you also want to give a lower rate, you do that with the ticket price itself or with a discount code at checkout.

## Guessing does not pay off

After ten attempts within a minute it stops for a while. And the proof of access someone gets after the right code expires by itself after twelve hours, or sooner once you change the code.

   Frequently asked questions

## Frequently asked questions

## Can I restrict one ticket type instead of the whole event?

No, the code is on the event. If you want a private offer next to your public sale, make it an event of its own with a code. That also keeps your public page clear.

## What does someone see who has the link but not the code?

The name of the event and a field for the code. No description, no location, no prices and no ticket types.

## Does a guest have to enter the code again every time?

Not within the same browser tab: access stays there until the tab is closed, with a maximum of twelve hours. In a new tab or on another device they enter the code again.

## Can I change or remove the code afterwards?

Yes, both. A new code makes the old one invalid right away, also for anyone who still has the page open. If you remove the code, the event is public again and back in your ticket shop.

## Does a private event cost extra?

No. It is part of every pricing model and you only pay the fixed fee per paid ticket. Free tickets are fee-free here as well.
