Why resale is useful
It happens at every event: someone buys a ticket but in the end can't make it. Without a good solution, that ticket ends up on unreliable resale channels, where visitors run the risk of fake tickets or extortionate prices.
With the resale feature of MijnEvent you offer a safe alternative. Visitors can resell their ticket neatly within the platform, so the buyer can be sure they receive a valid ticket. As the organiser, you keep control.
Resale is set per ticket type
You decide for yourself which tickets are allowed to be resold. You do that per ticket type in your management environment. This way you can, for example, allow resale for regular tickets but exclude it for special VIP packages.
Per ticket type you choose:
- Resale on or off — do you allow resale or not?
- A maximum resale price (optional) — so that tickets are not offered at extortionate prices.
With a maximum price you prevent tickets from being sold far above their original value. That keeps things fair for your visitors and protects the name of your event.
How a resale works
When a visitor offers their ticket, the resale runs smoothly and safely:
- The seller offers their ticket at an asking price (within any maximum price that has been set).
- The buyer pays the asking price plus a service fee via a new payment.
- As soon as the payment is complete, the old ticket is made invalid.
- The buyer receives a new ticket with a new QR code.
- The original seller receives a refund to their payment method.
Because the old ticket becomes invalid and the buyer receives a fresh ticket with a new QR code, there is no room for abuse. One ticket cannot be used twice.
Safe for everyone
This approach protects everyone involved:
- The buyer can be sure they are buying a valid, registered ticket.
- The seller gets their money back neatly to their own payment method.
- You as the organiser keep an overview of who actually comes in, because every ticket stays linked to your event.
In short
- You enable resale per ticket type: on or off.
- Optionally set a maximum price against extortionate prices.
- The buyer pays via a new payment; the old ticket lapses.
- The buyer gets a new ticket with a new QR code, the seller a refund.
This way you give visitors the freedom to resell a ticket, without compromising on safety or fairness.
