Setting up service fees per ticket type

Your own charges on top of the ticket price

Sometimes you want to pass on a small amount in addition to the pure ticket price — for administration, reservation or organisation costs. That's why in MijnEvent you can set your own service fees per ticket type: a fixed amount per ticket on top of the price.

You decide this per ticket type, so your VIP tickets can carry a different service fee than your Standard tickets. Or you leave the fee off entirely for certain types.

A label that suits you

Service fees aren't called the same thing everywhere. That's why you give them a label of your own, so the buyer sees exactly what it's about. Think of:

  • Booking fees
  • Administration costs
  • Organisation contribution

If you don't enter a label of your own, MijnEvent automatically shows the neutral text "Service fees". That way there's always something understandable at the checkout.

Transparent at the checkout

Transparency is the starting point. The service fees appear at the checkout as a separate line above the total amount. So the buyer first sees the subtotal of the tickets, then your service fees with the label you chose, and finally the total.

An example of how that looks:

  • 2× Standing — € 30.00
  • 1× VIP — € 45.00
  • Ticket subtotal — € 75.00
  • Booking fees — € 3.00
  • Total — € 78.00

No hidden costs, no surprises at the last moment. That builds trust and prevents drop-offs in the final step.

The proceeds go to you

The service fees belong to you as the organiser. They're part of the total amount that runs through your own Mollie account, just like the ticket prices themselves. So you don't have to settle anything separately — it simply comes in with your regular payout.

Captured at the moment of purchase

An important detail: the service fee amount is recorded as a snapshot at the moment a visitor orders. If you change the amount later, that has no effect on orders already placed.

In practice this means:

  • Visitors always pay the amount that applied when they ordered.
  • Your records stay accurate, even if you change your rates in the meantime.
  • You can experiment with your service fees for future sales without worry.

In short

Service fees per ticket type give you a simple, fair way to pass on extra costs. You choose the amount, you choose the label, and the buyer sees everything transparently at the checkout. The proceeds come straight to you, and existing orders remain untouched if you change something later.
